SPOTLIGHT ON HONG KONG CINEMA
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York supported Season 19 of Chicago’s Asian Pop-up Cinema (Mar 21 - Apr 12, 2025) by showcasing nine exceptional Hong Kong films and documentaries, including the United States premiere of the extended version of "The Last Dance", a poignant Hong Kong drama featuring a career-defining performance by Michelle Wai, who received the Festival’s Extraordinary Actors Award. Film director Anselm Chan attended the Festival and participated in a post-screening Q&A session alongside Michelle Wai. Other attending guests from Hong Kong included film directors Ho Miu-ki and Albert Mak as well as film producers Paul Chan and Chan Hing Ka.
